Relief Society Binder Tutorial

Relief Society Binder Tutorial

by Jeanna Mandeville

My calling in my ward is Relief Society Secretary. We have a binder that contains our attendance roll, Relief Society newsletters, new member forms and any other information we need to get to the sisters. The binder gets passed around to each sister during Relief Society.

We had an old black binder that was falling apart. The clear compartment sleeves inside the binder that usually held our pencils for roll attendance and our newsletters was all shredded. There was no place to put the pencils and out newsletters slide out all the time.  I knew it was time for an update!

I created a new binder for under $20.

BINDER

I purchased an EverBind Binder from Office Max. It has a more flexible and consumer-friendly shape to it.

COVER INSERT

I created the front graphic and included some free downloads for you below.

PENCIL/PEN HOLDER

I wanted to get some type of pen/pencil holder for the binder itself. After much research, I settled on these. They are stainless steel pen holder clips.

I glued the holder on the inside of the binder cover for extra hold. I also placed some post-it notes in the clear sleeve in case anyone needs scratch paper.

INNER FOLDERS AND LABELS

Inside the binder I have folders that I purchased from the Dollar Tree. On those folders are labels that I purchased from Dollar Tree also. I bought the labels in gold. You may already have folders and labels at home though.

When you open the binder this is what sisters will see:

ATTENDANCE ROLL

My first folder is our Attendance Roll. I hole punched the papers with a 3-hole punch and placed the roll inside the first folder. In front of the roll I have 1 clear binder pencil pouch.

PENCIL POUCHES

I purchased clear pencil pouches from Amazon. I did have some colored pencil pouches on hand, but wanted a simple feel to this binder and felt the hot pink and neon yellow I had here at home didn't match very well ;-) Dollar Tree does have the binder pencil pouches too, but again, none that were plain.

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

After the attendance roll, I have a folder with our monthly Relief Society newsletters.

WARD FACEBOOK GROUP CARDS

The next item in the binder is a clear sleeve that I glued an envelope to and inserted information about our Ward Facebook Group.

NEW SISTER FORMS

Then the last folder has forms for new sisters to fill out
