About a year ago when I joined the Latter Day Village team I was asked to write a little blog post about myself, so our members could get to know me a little better. As you can see I did a pretty good job avoiding it. I guess it’s time for me to quit hiding and share a little about myself. I’m not an excellent writer like Debra and Megan, and I’m also a pretty private person so this makes me feel very vulnerable. However, I am slowly learning that exposing these vulnerabilities helps me grow as a person. So here goes nothing!
I was born in the dead of winter on a stormy night in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I was lucky enough to be born to the most fabulous parents you get ever ask for. No, really I scored big time in the parent department! Other than my husband my Mom is my very best friend. I have 3 brothers, 2 older, one younger. I like to think I turned out to be a pretty well rounded girl. I can hunt, and fish with the boys and shop and get pedicures with the girls. I attended Ricks College (BYU I) and Utah Valley State College. When I was a senior in high school Latter Day Village’s own designer Megan, introduced me to her boyfriends best friend Steve. Yep, Megan and I knew each other way back then. We actually met in 7th grade and she’s been a blessing in my life ever since. I actually knew the first time I met my husband that he would be my husband someday. He took a little more convincing. We kept in touch while he served a mission in Ohio and were engaged about 5 months after he got home. It’s one of the best choices I’ve made so far in my life.
Steve and I have 4 kids, 3 boys and 1 girl. They are 14, 11, 9 and 7. My daughter and I can totally relate on what it’s like to grow up in a house full of boys. I spend my days following my kids to sporting events and Cheer recitals. It is completely exhausting yet I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being a mother is hard work and most days I feel like I’m completely failing but then there are those moments when I get an unexpected thank you or an I Love You and it is all worth it!
I used to love to read but it seems like these days reading time is few and far between. The one thing I do always make time for is running. It is my passion! I have run everything from a 5k race to an ultra marathon.
I am a self taught graphic designer and I’m still learning. I started about seven years ago with digital scrapbooking. It didn’t take me long to discover I had a love and knack for it. My professional career as a graphic designer started with a little Etsy store. When Megan approached me about joining the Latter Day Village team I was nervous and excited about the challenge, but I have learned so much in the past year, both spiritually and professionally. Studying the Youth Sunday School lessons each month has truly been a blessing in my life. My testimony has grown and I have learned more than ever how to rely on the promptings of the Spirit. This opportunity came at a time in my life when I really needed it.
