He makes our weak things strong!

He Makes Weak Things StrongFebruary 15, 2016

Tomorrow is my birthday! Birthdays are such a great time to think back and reflect on how far you've come in the past year ... and maybe what you still need to work on! I was thinking about my life this past year and the many ups and downs that I went through. I have been very lucky to see so many wonderful blessings (and sometimes miracles!) that Heavenly Father has given me this past year.

One of the biggest blessings that I have is this website. Latter-Day Village has brought me so much joy! Working on Young Women lesson helps and Relief Society lesson helps is seriously a dream job! I get to study conference talks and scriptures nearly every day. I have been guided by the Spirit many, many times on what lesson helps I need to provide. I have been directed to certain quotes or scriptures that need to be highlighted. I think at times, it's for my welfare, but other times, it must be for someone else that needs it. I know that Heavenly Father helps me daily with Latter-Day Village.

Another blessing I had in my life this past year, was my calling as the Gospel Doctrine teacher in my ward. It was the HARDEST calling I've ever had by far! I have a bit of social anxiety, so to be able to stand in front of a group of adults and teach them the New Testament, well - it was terrifying! Just as many of you have learned from a teaching calling, I know that I gained a lot more from the lessons I taught then my class did. I had a few trials in my life this past year that I know would have been much harder for me to get through, had it not been for some of the lessons that I studied and taught. Some of the comments that my classroom gave would be direct answers to my prayers. I know that Heavenly Father needed me in that calling so he could prepare me for my trials. He truly cares about each of us and knows what we need much better than we know ourselves!

This past summer I was called as the Girl's Camp chef. I have 2 Young Women age daughters, so I was excited to get to go to camp with them. However, this past year, I have been dealing with some health issues that have left me very fatigued and low energy. I accepted the calling and then prayed, fasted, and prayed some more that I would have the energy to feed 40 people 3 meals a day for 4 days! The girls and other leaders were wonderful helping me to prepare the food and serve it. But it was ultimately up to me to get it together! I was the first one awake and the last one to bed. As soon as I would sit down, someone would need something out of the kitchen, or it would be time to start the next meal. But not once during that time did I feel the fatigue that I had been feeling for almost a year! I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for the day. It was nothing short of a miracle to me. As soon as I returned home, the fatigue immediately set in and I was in bed for a few days. But that was ok! I survived Girl's Camp - actually more than survived! I ENJOYED it!

I have had many other blessings and trials in my life this past year, but with each new trial, I have seen Heavenly Father's hand in my life. I know that He cares about each of individually. He knows us very personally. He wants us to rely on Him, to pray to Him, to ask Him for help. He loves us! I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of Him and for the beautiful life that He has given me.
